What the health information on this site is, and what it is not.
Last updated 22 October 2026
If you have sudden vision loss, sudden severe eye pain, new flashes or floaters, a shadow across your vision, or an eye injury, telephone the clinic or go to an emergency department. Do not wait for a reply to a website form.
Everything on this website is general health information, published so that you can arrive at an appointment better informed. It is not a diagnosis. It is not a treatment recommendation. It is not a substitute for being examined by a doctor who can see your eyes.
Eyes differ. Two people with the same symptom can need opposite treatments, and the only way to know which applies to you is an examination with the measurements that go with it.
Do not delay seeking care because of something you read here, and do not use this site to decide against an examination.
Sudden loss of vision, sudden severe eye pain, a sudden shower of new floaters or flashing lights, a curtain or shadow spreading across your vision, or an injury to the eye all need to be looked at urgently. Telephone us during opening hours, or go to an emergency department if we are closed. Do not wait for a reply to a website form.
Reading this site, or sending us an enquiry through it, does not make you our patient and does not create a doctor and patient relationship. That begins when you attend the clinic and are assessed.
Where this site describes what a treatment can achieve, it describes typical outcomes in suitable patients. It is not a promise about your own result. Suitability for any procedure is decided after assessment, and some people are not suitable candidates. Every procedure carries risk, and those risks are explained to you in person before you are asked to consent to anything.
Statistics and clinical claims on this site are taken from published sources, which we name where we use them. Medicine moves, and a figure accurate when written may be superseded. If you think something here is out of date or wrong, please tell us.
We link to other organisations where their material is useful. We do not control those sites and linking to one is not an endorsement of everything on it.
